avahi via yast?

I see the avahi daemon running on my Suse 10.3 system. My first
question is, how do I turn it on and off via yast? If that's not
possible, it raises the second question - should SuSE or any distribution
- add new facilities /enabled/ without having them readily configurable
by the system management console?

If I remember correctly it is in the yast/system/runlevel editor section...

To your second question: opensuse is one of those more newbie-friendly
distributions that enables a lot of system services /by default/ This
however is a question of the point of view: Should a distribution take over
things you would prefer to handle by yourself - or on the other side you
would be unable to handle...
