Collation Error during SQL Database migration

18/01/2008 - 13:31 von Dominik.Brosch | Report spam
Hello Group,

I just tried to move the SMS Database from SQL Server 2000 to SQL 2005
(other machine).

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sm...18341.mspx

I tried several methods, like detach the database, recover from backup-file,
etc. But at any time, I getting following error:

Microsoft SQL Server reported SQL message 468, severity 16:
[42000][468][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot resolve the
collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and
"Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.

As far as I understood, it is not possible to change collation afterwards
creating the database.
So it seems to me, just to create a new database from the scratch at the new
server.

Does anyone know, if there is another possibility to solve this problem? Or
how can I export all objects from SMS out of my exiting database, and merge
it into new database.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dominik

Hallo Dominik,

ich hatte mal einen àhnlichen Fall:
http://groups.google.de/group/micro...b3b4134a48
An der Datenbank-Collation kannst eher kaum was àndern. Ich würde den
SQL-Server neu installieren und dabei aufpassen, dass die Collaction gewàhlt,
die auch die SMS-DB hat. Damit müsste es wieder funktionieren.

Torsten
