HELP: Installation

18/08/2008 - 21:22 von Th | Report spam
I am trying to install SUSE 10.3 from DVD onto an old Pentium 2
laptop. This laptp has no internal floppy or DVD drive and will not
boot from USB. I can boot from the hard disc or CD only.

I have a bootable CD which gets me to a DOS prompt and I can then
browse the DVD over USB. But I can't seem to get the installation to
start. Everything says it need windows to run.

I have tried copying files onto the HDD and booting from that but
nothing works. The fact is I'm new to linux and have no clue what to
copy or what to run. Please help.

TIA.

Have you changed the boot sequence in your BIOS from C:\ to D:\ (typing ESC
e.g. when your laptop starts)? Beside that not all "old" pcs are capable to
run (or even boot) opensuse, because it requires some more RAM.
