How many samba servers do I need?

Hello group,

I have a small network with a Linux box as Samba-PDC fileserver (let's call
it PDC) and some windows clients, who connect to it.
So far so good, everything works fine.

Now I want to add a second linux box into that network (let's call it LAMP):

I want to be able to initiate filetransfers from one of the windows clients,
that transfer files
- from LAMP to PDC and vice versa
- from LAMP to windows clients and vice versa
- (from PDC to windows clients and vice versa as well as from windows
clients to windows clients works already perfectly with my previous
configuration)

Here comes my question:
- What do I install on the LAMP? Is it enough to install a samba client
there? Or do I need to install a samba-server there, too? What happenes with
the authentication? Can I manage it via the PDC?

Thank you for any advice
