Hallo!

Ich habe noch einen Internet Anschluß per analog Modem (3com/Us. Robotics,
56 k Message Modem) bei AON. Bisher hatte ich damit kein Problem gehabt
(sowohl Suse 9.0, als auch Debian Sarge).

Jetzt habe ich Debian Etch installiert und mit der Konfiguration des
Modem-Zugangs hackt es fürchterlich.

Den Zugang habe ich normal mit "ppp-config" eingerichtet. Ich kann mich über
das Modem einwàhlen. Programme wir ping, fping, traceroute etc.
funktionieren tadellos. Beim Versuch eine http-Seite aufzurufen, hàngt das
Modem meist sofort, manchmal nach einigen Sekunden auf.

Name-Server bekomme ich (egal ob ich sie in der config angebe oder mir
zuweisen lasse), laut aon gibt es einen Proxy für http und ftp (habe ich
bisher weder gewußt, noch benutzt), àndet aber auch nichts ander Sache,
wenn ich dem im Browser eintrage.

Ich habe überall den debugging level hochgedreht und offensichtlich gibt es
ein Problem mit komprimierten Daten, wenn ich das richtig verstehe. Nur
habe ich keine Ahnung, an welcher Schraube ich da drehen muß.

Fàllt irgendwem dazu was ein?

Dann habe ich auch noch wvdial (+gnome-ppp) ausprobiert, bringt aber auch

Hast du schon mal probiert den pppd mit der Option 'nodeflate'
zu starten?
Was für einen Kernel hast du denn? In irgendeiner 2.6-er Version gabs da
einen Fehler.
