Kubuntu password problem

I just set a password for samba. This means using sudo, OK,
my password, and on we go to setting a user name and password
for samba, which I did. All seemed well.

I am trying to get my chromecast working with Linux, for which
I have some instructions. The next step is to edit the file, again
with sudo. At this point I am told that my password is incorrect.
I must have somehow changed it when typing one into samba.

What do I do now? I am the only user of my laptop and must somehow
get into su to reset the password, but I need one to get in there.
Is there a way to do this?

which commands did you use? what did you type where? according to which
instructions did you go along? have you already tried using the
"samba"-password for sudo?
