password protect a folder

25/01/2008 - 14:33 von Gig A. | Report spam
I have a folder I created with some important docs I scanned. Some of the
documents are .pdf and some are .doc files, a few are .bmp.

How can I password protect that folder so noone can open this folder and
view/alter the files within this folder.

I Have WIN XP (SP3)
Office 2003
Adobe reader 7.0

Thank you

This is a German speaking NG.
Why don't you use an appropriate English speaking group?

Anyway, this one might help:

| By default, simple file sharing is enabled on a Microsoft
| Windows XP-based computer if the computer is not a member
| of a domain.
| With simple file sharing, you can share folders with everyone
| on your workgroup or network and make folders in your user
| profile private.
| However, if simple file sharing is enabled, you cannot prevent
| specific users and groups from accessing your shared folders.
| If you turn off simple file sharing, you can permit specific
| users and groups to access a shared folder.
| Those users must be logged on with the credentials of user
| accounts that you have granted access to your shared folder.

Please note, that Windows XP SP3 is still an unsupported beta release.
