screen resolution openSuse 11.2

My screen resolution on 15" LCD is bad. After a necessary reinstallation,
it was 800x600 instead of 1024x768, which wasn't even an selectable
option. Then, following some advise, I added nvidia to my repo's, and ran
an update to get the right driver for my GF5200. Since then it only got
worse, because now my highest selectable resolution is 640x480. "rpm -qa
| grep kernel" also doesn't list an nvidia adapter kernel, which should
have been the case according to both Suse and nvidia docs. So my question
is: how can I get my 1024x768 resolution back?
