T-mobile rubbish network

I think it may be interesting to know how T-mobile behaves in countries where customers are not protected adequately by the law.

I live in The Netherlands; I made the mistake to start a subscription with T-mobile at the end of August. Soon I realized that their data network is rubbish: in the place where I live (in the center of a 15000 people town), I get between zero and a few kbps (but mostly zero): I can not even check the subject of my e-mails, completely useless; nevertheless on the web site of T-mobile the area is specified as covered properly. Within the first week, which according to the European regulation (in theory) allows a customer to cancel a contract, I phoned the call center to perform the cancellation; I was told to do this in the shop where I signed the contract; I had to drive far from my work and during working time in order to do it; I got a receipt of the request; I kept on wasting my time testing if it was a temporary problem but after two more weeks I was convinced that it was impossible to hope for more than nothing from their network; I got an sms asking me to call the call center which confirmed that there was no temporary problem; I confirmed to the call center the request to cancel the subscription many more times but nothing happened; at the beginning of October I sent a fax (you have no address, only the useless call center or the fax number). I got no reply, it is clear that they try to exhaust you by refusing any contact except with the call center which can not forward you any responsible, useless as their network.

Whatever "adequately" means in your case.

I live in The Netherlands; I made the mistake to start a subscription with T-mobile at the end of August.
Soon I realized that their data network is rubbish:

I don't know how goot the T-Mobile Network in Netherlands is.

in the place where I live (in the center of a 15000 people town),

So small?

I get between zero and a few kbps (but mostly zero):

GSM, Edge, Hotspot, WLAN, UMTS or LTE?

I can not even check the subject of my e-mails, completely useless;

maybe you should be aware of the fact, that most providers have a Map,
taht shows the calculated coverage of the areas and that even in the
covered areas not every place really has enough signal. For example:
metal elevators are famous for disturbing the reception inside.

nevertheless on the web site of T-mobile the area is specified as covered properly.

You should know, that this is only a calculated guess.
The did not send thousands of cars to every town to measure the
reception at every squareinch.

Within the first week, which according to the European regulation (in theory)

... when you do NOT subscribe in a sjhop...

allows a customer to cancel a contract, I phoned the call center to perform the cancellation;

You are wrong about the first week cancel when you did subscribe in a
shop.

I was told to do this in the shop where I signed the contract;

Bingo! Shop-Contracts do not have a 1 Week (or the normal 14 day)
period to cancel. Your fault. Not the Problem of the Shop.

I had to drive far from my work

Why did you subscribe in a shop so far away, when it is not convenient
to reach this shop?

and during working time in order to do it; I got a receipt of the request;

Nice. now you have a piece of paper to pin to your wall.

I kept on wasting my time testing if it was a temporary problem

After you tried to cancel the contract, you use it further on? In
germany that can be used to argue, that you do not want to cancel.

but after two more weeks I was convinced that it was impossible to hope for more than nothing from their network

Using it 2 further weeks after cancelling the contract. Don't you
think this was very silly?

; I got an sms asking me to call the call center
which confirmed that there was no temporary problem;
I confirmed to the call center the request to cancel the subscription

... while using it further on...

many more times but nothing happened;

because you did try to cancel a legal contract and used it furter on
in the same time. That is absurd.

at the beginning of October I sent a fax (you have no address, only the useless call center or the fax number).

You drove to the shop. It has an addresss.
You signed a contract. On the contract there have to be the addresses
of the contractors.
And I guess even on the bill is an address.

I got no reply, it is clear that they try to exhaust you by refusing any contact except with the call center which can not forward you any responsible, useless as their network.

I can only argue from the point here in Germany, but you mentioned
"not protected...by the law" and "European regulation". Since the
standard parts from your complain should be the same and even in
germany using a cancelled contract is like "schizophrenic behavior".

And as far as I guess the cancellation of a contract ist protectec
by the law, if you made it NOT directly at a
shop/dealer/supermarket/etc...
When I order online or by fax/ telephone/postcard or so, then I have
14 days on the calender to cancel. But not when I go to the
shop/dealer/supermarket and buy there.
I asume, in Netherlands it is the same.

Please read the contract before you complain. On the contract should
be the address of the contract-partners.
