Virtual PC 2007 does not accept more than 270 MB main memory !

Installed on Windows XP SP 3 (Version 2002) runs Virtual PC 2007 SP1, but it
does not accept more than 270 MB main memory (Arbeitsspeicher) despite the
fact, that the Host PC has 2 GB of main memory. When assigning more memory to
the Virtual PC and then starting it (with no other applications on the host),
I always get the Error message: "Der virtuelle Computer konnte nicht
gestartet werden, da auf dem Host nicht genügend Arbeitsspeicher verfügbar
ist." In English: "The virtual PC could not start, because at the Host there
is not enough memory available." But that is simply not correct, because the
Host uses 500 MB to 900 MB and the total amount of memory is 2 GB !! I have
tried a lot but without success and by now I have no more idea what could
probably cause the debacle. For the applications on the Virtual PC I need
more memory (about up to 700 MB).
Many Thanks for your competent Ansers and friendly Greetings from
