W2K8 - Windows Server Backup - different questions

20/11/2008 - 16:31 von Juan | Report spam
Hi,

at the moment I'm testing Windows Server Backup up. I have seen that the
volumes are copied into a hidden volume. - What happens if the server crashes?

- How can I copy the data from the hidden volume to another location?

- How can I tell Windows Recovery disc to search on that other location?

- Is there a possibility to back up files, directories or exchange stores
like with ntbackup in W2K3?

Kind regards

Juan

You can use the VHDMOUNT Tool from Virual Server CD to open the VHD files.
You can also use the disk management tool to mount .VHD files.
You can use ntdsutil to mound snapshots.

No you cannot. You can only perform system state backup or full volume
backup (incremental backup).
